...Give
it up. No one REALLY cares about patriotism.

Mr.
Campion:
Fucking coward!
You won't even choose sides, you opportunistic slug. That's right, suck
up to whoever will read clear and balanced reporting. What kind of fucking
journalist reports objectively on ALL sides of the story? You belong
in Dante's First Circle. When will you start dusting off the 'ole North
Korean masterpiece and let the readers know what's going on there? Do
you think Mr. Georgetown has a few hypotheses on why we're inflating
the short guy with the bad haircut as big as a gas-station gorilla?
Or does anyone realize that the N. Koreans couldn't even AFFORD ($$)
an extended conflict with us? What have you got? Bohammer
Jc,
Finally, someone has the guts in the media, however fringe media this
column is, to call out these subjective swine. Right Wing? Left Wing?
People who claim to be "fair and balanced" and "trusted
news" services cashing in on these tragic events is sickening.
I actually hear some of these assholes quoting their RATINGS! And comparing
them to other networks? How callous is that? Thanks for your candor.
By the way, is this Bill OReilly guy drunk or is he just stupid?
Brett S.
Sir,
I refuse to believe that it would cost this country more than a half
dozen pine boxes and a few shovels IF.... IF damnit... if we had the
balls that God gave a mountain goat to send in a couple of good black
ops teams to take Saddam and his closest friends out the way they should
have a dozen years ago.
GW isn't doing anything more than finishing up what Daddy started and
screwed right into the ground. The Desk believes, and has been telling
everybody that will listen, that when he was elected, maybe even before,
GW promised George Herbert Walker Bush that he'd finish the job.
And the further it goes, the more it looks that way. If the war is really
and truly justified, Godspeed to our forces and may they kick ass righteously,
and this time, sew it up and put it away for good.
If it is not... Your faithful reader, Dr. Leftover
James,
Although I think I get the gist of it, and I am moved to write and respond,
I'm not quite sure what you are talking about in "Abandoning Reason
At The Fort". Did something specific happen to you, or are you
just fed up, saddened, sickened and disgusted? (What might be the difference,
I ask myself?) I havent been paying attention to this war. I don't
watch the news or read the papers. I listen to a little bit of public
radio, and a little bit of the radio. I feel a little ashamed of myself.
All my friends and I feel helpless, like we are under the same dictatorship
we are about to going to war, surrounded by ships of fools; fools who
are into it. What is a recently divorced, single mother running a small
business and trying to find pleasure and art and meaning and music,
to do? I have come across some lyrics that make this whole mess clear
to me, some things about life as I have never seen it before. That is
the beauty of poetry, it is always new. The following is from a favorite
Bob Dylan of mine, and for some reason, this struck me today.
"Old lady judges watch people in pairs limited in sex they dare
to push fake morals, insult and stare While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony." I think
that that old lady judge is just as much a part of Bush as she is his
old man. Be well, Laura
Yo Campion,
Give it up. No one REALLY cares about patriotism. Ask yourself this?
IF the present administration is all about military and protecting this
nation, then why the fuck are they pushing a tax cut? Who the hell is
paying for this crap? The French?
