Nathan Davies - Hackwriters Arts and Entertainment

Nathan Davies has always been obsessed with stories. So much so, in fact, that as an infant, while his contemporaries played happily in the sand pit, he taught himself to read using British reprints of “The Amazing Spider-Man” By the time he started junior school he had already read of the dangers of drug abuse and of the death of Gwen Stacy. They were stories with substance, with feeling, and he was hooked - for life.

Beyond the realm of four-colour superheroes, Nathan has developed, with the notable exceptions of sport and excessive physical excercise, an interest in practically everything that has crossed his path. This encompassesTV, film, radio, the Internet, newspapers (he's even written for one or two regionals) and especially books. Books of all kinds, though mostly fiction, seem to be Nathan's stock in trade. They range from the classical, to the modern, to the post-modern; from serious literature to Terry Pratchett. It may come as no surprise, then, to learn that after school, this "print junkie" decided to dedicate a further three years of his life to studying English (rather ironically, at the University of Wales, Bangor).

Nathan considers his time at University to have included some of the most rewarding and enjoyable years of his life. He was able to sate his intellectual appetite by studying books, even whole genres, which he might have otherwise overlooked. He also contributed reviews to the student magazine Seren, learned how to write and sell film scripts, participated in a televised interview with Texan screen writer Kim Henkel (who wrote the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and met his girlfriend.
He even, in an uncharacteristically energetic move, climbed Snowdon. He was loath to leave.
Now, after University, much as before, Nathan is trying to find his niche in the world at large, writing when and where he can. He is, however, still waiting for that call from Marvel that offers him the X-Men. Well, he can dream...
