LIRR to Greenport
Depart: Penn Station, transfer in Ronkonkoma.
Arrive: Greenport, NY (within walking distance of ferry). Duration: 2.5-3 hours.
Cost: About $23 peak and $16 off peak. Lower rates for senior citizens and disabled.
Notes: Purchase tickets online for a cheaper rate.
Greenport Ferry to Shelter Island
Depart: Greenport, North Ferry
Arrive: Shelter Island
Duration: Less than 10 minutes.
Cost: $2 foot passenger. $9 one way vehicle and driver, $13 same day round trip-$2 for every additional person, $1 extra for SUVs. One way bike and rider $3, $5 same day round trip. One way motorcycle and rider $6, $8 same day round trip.
Notes: Ferry runs 6am to midnight about every 20 minutes. No auto reservations, first come first serve. Autos, bike and motorcycles pay on board, cash or checks only.
